The Welsh nation has two great passions: singing and rugby! In Rugby World Cup year, what better way to celebrate the nation’s choral and rugby interest than Codi Canu Cwpan Rygbi’r Byd? The choirs of the five rugby regions go head to head to see who will be crowned champions of Codi Canu Cwpan Rygbi’r Byd. Under the watchful eye of Musical Director Tim Rhys Evans, the choirs are partnered with a country competing in the Rugby World Cup, and face the challenge of learning the national anthem and a traditional song from that particular country. How will The Cardiff Blues Choir cope with mastering the Fijian anthem, The Ospreys with the Australian anthem, The Scarlets with Ireland, Côr Rygbi’r Gogledd with the Georgian anthem and The Dragons with the Spanish of the Uruguayan national anthem? As with every rugby team the guidance and inspiration of the captain is crucial. But to be a member of a choir, one skill is vital – and that’s to be able to sing. So how will former international rugby players Shane Williams, Dafydd Jones, Rhodri Gomer Davies, Deiniol Jones and Rupert Moon get on, and which choir will be crowned champions of Codi Canu Cwpan Rygbi’r Byd 2015?
