Jess Davies talks to us about what she learnt from Jess Y Model a Tudalen 3…
What would you like people to take away from Jess Y Model a Tudalen 3?
I’d like people to take away the notion of not skimming the surface of each situation, and to look at all sides before they make their minds up. I’d also like people to be more open to what makes a feminist.
What was the most interesting thing you learnt from the experience? Did any of your opinions change?
As cliché as it sounds, I learnt more about myself and just how passionate I feel about the whole debate regarding gender inequality. I also learnt from the feedback I’ve received that a lot more people are open to the idea of a woman being able to be in charge of her sexuality and not being a victim – for example, it being seen as a choice and not being pressured into it – which is lovely to know.
Jess Y Model a Tudalen 3 explores the notion of female empowerment. What does that term mean to you and when do you feel most empowered?
I feel most empowered when I am in control of my past, present and future decisions and choices. The term ‘female empowerment’ to me means a woman being in control of themselves, their body, their mind and their decisions to create a positive outcome – whether that is for their personal, financial, social or cultural gain.
