Two years ago Wynne Evans the opera singer, who shot to fame through the Go Compare adverts on television, was a celebrity candidate in Fflic series cariad@iaith (love4language). On leaving the filming location in Cilgerran, where he had been learning Welsh with seven other celebrities, he made a life-changing decision to continue to learn the Welsh language. He secured weekly ‘one to one’ lessons and by 2013, he was ready to present his own series, in Welsh, on S4C. In the first series, amateur dramatic groups became his focus and Wynne encouraged and mentored the members preparing towards a dramatic performance to be staged in the community. There was also ample opportunity to chat to individuals about their lives and contribution to the cultural scene in their area. In the second series, groups of singers became the focus. With a dollop of humour, Wynne, in both series, has brought much hilarity, hard work, as well as frustrations, to the screen.
